Author : William ArdenTranslator: Carla Wiberg Swedish cover: Robert Adragna & Vicente. First Swedish edition: 1987 (1986 in the USA) Editions: 3 Spine-number: 2441 Original title: The Mystery of Wreckers' Rock Review: Every 5th year the Ragnarson family meet on an Island outside Rocky Beach. They are descendants of Knut Ragnarson who lived in the 19th century. Knut fled a sinking ship and came to the Island. The people dress themselves up as vikings and indians. Then they play a drama and have a party. Many of them stay a few days on the Island. The Three Investigators are going to take photographs of the spectacle. Suddenly they come across an empty boat and they fear that a man has fallen overboard. Later some persons are very interested in the photos the boys took. Why? There are also rumours of a hidden treasure on the Island, and people hear strange sounds and see visions. The boys decide to go back to the Island. William Arden has written a very rewarding story with a fascinating background and a suggestive atmosphere. There are some thrilling memorable adventurous scenes when the boys are on the Island. The solution of the mystery is also ingenious. Wreckers´ Rock is a pleasant experience before the traumatic end of the bookseries (Cranky Collector).
